Aviation Studies 20

Prerequisite:  A genuine interest in flying and the aviation industry.

This class is also open to Grade 10s upon special application.

This course is an integration of theory and practice. Students learn about the parts of an airplane, conduct a pre-flight walk-around, learn how a wing produces lift; theory and physics of flight,
design and aerodynamics, instruments and engines.

The content of the course includes topics required to write a Transport Canada private pilot examination.

There are guest speakers from the industry and tours of aviation facilities. Careers in aviation are also addressed.

Building and flying  your own balsa wood model airplane is a large part of the "hands-on" process.
